Chief John Ard has been serving the public for over 25 years in three different communities: City of Arlington, City of Southlake, and Town of Westlake. His fire service career began in 2002 in Southlake, where he climbed to Driver/Engineer. In 2016, he came to the Town of Westlake on a full-time basis and has served as Deputy Chief of Operations and Fire Marshal since then.
While serving this role, Chief Ard advanced his higher education and completed his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Stephen F. Austin University. Chief Ard also holds many licenses and certifications, including Fire Service Chief Executive Officer (FSCEO) from Texas A&M Mays School of Business and Chief Fire Executive (CFE) from Texas Fire Chief Association. Additionally, Chief Ard is an adjunct instructor at Tarrant County College Fire Service Training Center.
