Arrest Warrants

The Town of Westlake Marshal’s Office is the law enforcement agency dedicated to serving the Town of Westlake Municipal Court and the citizens of Westlake. The agency’s primary function is judicial security and to serve and protect everyone who comes to the Westlake Municipal Court. The Town Marshal’s Office is also responsible for executing all lawful processes issued by the Municipal Court, which includes Summons, Subpoenas, and Traffic Warrants. The Marshal’s Office is staffed with a full-time state licensed peace officer, as defined by The State of Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Chapter 2, Articles 2.12 and 2.13.

The Marshals’ secondary focus is gaining compliance regarding outstanding warrants. If you have received a citation in the Town of Westlake from the Keller Police Department (Keller P.D. is the Town of Westlake’s contracted police agency) and a warrant has been issued for your arrest, please contact us to receive beneficial information and valuable options to prevent your arrest if possible. It is the desired outcome of the Town Marshal to see that citizens/violators get out of warrant status without having to use our powers of arrest.

The Town of Westlake Marshal’s Office is a State of Texas designated law enforcement agency, which operates independently from and is not affiliated with the Keller Police Department.

If you have an active warrant with the Town of Westlake Municipal Court, please contact the court office at (817) 490-5716  to find out what options are available to you.

Type of Warrants Issued

It is important for the public to understand that in the State of Texas traffic violations and other Class C misdemeanors are criminal violations. Therefore, the failure of a defendant to correctly and adequately meet their obligations under the law will result in the issuance of criminal process against that defendant. The two most common types of criminal process issued by the Westlake Municipal Court are in the form of a warrant of arrest (alias warrant) and/or a capias pro-fine warrant.

Either form of warrant authorizes the Westlake marshal or any other peace officer of the State of Texas to immediately place you under arrest wherever you may be found, and then to take you to jail where you will await arraignment by a judge.

Note: If you are arrested outside of the corporate limits of the Town of Westlake, you may have to wait in custody up to 24 hours to be transported to our jail facility for arraignment.

Failure to Appear / Omnibase

The Westlake Municipal Court and the Westlake Marshals Office are participants in the Texas FTA Program and have contracted with Omnibase to assist us in the collection of overdue/delinquent fines and fees. As a result, the Court and the Marshals Office regularly enter all warrant and delinquent fine information into that database. Once information has been entered into the Omnibase system the defendant will not be able to renew their Drivers License until all fines and fees have been Paid in Full.

Be aware that a single defendant can be listed in the Onmibase system by more than one participating agency (court office). If this occurs, the defendant will not be able to renew their license until all listing agencies have been satisfied. Also, understand that Omnibase and the Texas DPS reports “Omni Holds” to other States that are members of the Interstate Violators Compact. This means that a person with “Omni Holds” will also be unable to obtain a Drivers License in another State.

The Failure to Appear Program was authorized by the Texas Legislature in 1995 and the Texas Department of Public Safety was assigned responsibility for the administration of the program. OmniBase responded to the Request for Proposal and was selected by TDPS as the initial vendor for the program in 1996. Accordingly, OmniBase is the only company to administer the FTA program and has been included in each of the enhancements to the program since it was first authorized.

OmniBase Services of Texas maintains and administers the central database for the cities and counties contracted to use the Department of Public Safety’s Failure to Appear Program. The FTA program as authorized by Chapter 706 of the Texas Transportation Code, provides an effective collection and enforcement tool by restricting the violator’s ability to renew their drivers license for outstanding violations.
