Today, as we gather in gratitude, we honor the bravery, sacrifice, and dedication of those who have served in our nation’s armed forces. Veterans Day reminds us of the strength and resilience of our service members — qualities that have preserved our freedoms and shaped our nation’s spirit.
As Mayor of Westlake, and on behalf of our Town Council, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you. For me, this day is personal: I come from a military family deeply rooted in service. My father served as a Marine in Korea, my stepfather as a P40 pilot in WWII, my uncle in the Army in the Pacific, and my brother retired from the Navy. Our family has had the honor of representing all four branches, and we continue to do so through my nephew, who serves in the Navy today.
I know firsthand the sacrifices that military families make, and I am proud of the role they play in supporting those who serve. Our town is richer, our community stronger, because of the veterans among us. Thank you for your courage and dedication.
Westlake stands with you in gratitude and admiration, today and every day.
With deepest respect,
Kim Greaves
Mayor of Westlake
